Alexander Wang is delving into denim with a small collection for women consisting of three cuts in three washes. In an over-saturated market, Wang's denim collection stands out due to innovative fits and custom fabrics (the super provocative ads don't hurt either).
The Wang 001 is not a “skinny” jean per se, but it's a slim fit with a high rise to sit at the waist as well as 1% stretch for the two indigo washes and 2% for the black wash. The Wang 002, or relaxed fit, has zero stretch and is based on a classic men’s fit, but cut for a woman’s body. Last but not least is the Wang 003 which is a boy cut (not to be confused with a boyfriend jean) featuring a low cut with a wide yet tapered leg.
Prices range from $225 to $295 and go on sale December 8 in the New York store and on the U.S. Web site. If you're overseas, Wang’s international e-commerce will have the collection in January, with wholesale distribution to follow in March.
